In line with the best

With around five publications per professor per year and around two doctorates per professor per year, the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Ruhr-Universität is one of the eight best in Germany. It ranks in the top quarter worldwide, placing it in the same category as Boston University, the Sorbonne and the University of Oslo.

The excellence of the research carried out at the faculty is also reflected in its level of third-party funding. In a Germany-wide comparison, the Bochum faculty is one of the seven chemistry faculties with the most third-party funding with €16.2 million. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the Bochum Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry emphasises its excellent research with a second place in the third-party funding ranking.

Students regularly catapult the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry into the top group in rankings of study conditions. Especially when it comes to support at the beginning of their studies or the teaching of specialised scientific content. Thanks to the excellent study conditions, over 90% of our students complete their degree within a reasonable period of time.
