Prof. Dr. Andrea Kirsch leads the “Oxidic Functional Materials” Group based at the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry and in the Research Center Future Energy Materials and Systems. Positioned at the intersection of chemistry, physics, and materials science, her group aims to develop advanced materials for future energy applications.

One of the foci is the development of innovative strategies for material design by unraveling how atomic, electronic, and microstructural features evolve during synthesis or under external stimuli. To achieve this, we use cutting-edge characterization techniques at large-scale facilities such as synchrotrons, allowing us to study these dynamic processes in real time.
