Prof. Dr. Katrin Sommer

The research group led by Prof Sommer focuses on various aspects of didactics.

The focus is on investigations into the understanding of specialised methods and in particular model experiments as well as the development and evaluation of didactic concepts for extracurricular learning with a focus on ‘encountering scientific ways of thinking and working’. The specialised methods provide experimental findings which, in combination with the ways of thinking, lead to an insight into the scientific discipline of chemistry. The target groups of the research activities are students, pupils and interested laypersons. In this way, a contribution is made to science communication between university, school and the public.
